The Rotary Club’s motto is “Service Above Self,” and
Gilroy Rotarians are actively involved in humanitarian,
educational, and cultural programs that touch people's
lives both in the local community and throughout the world.
Leadership is an essential aspect of Rotary, and part of our mission is to help emerging leaders develop their skills. Gilroy Rotary sponsors Interact Clubs for local youth at Gilroy High School, Christopher High School, and the Gilroy Early College Academy. Students in these clubs strengthen their leadership skills, serve their communities, increase their world understanding, and build friendships.
The Gilroy Interact Clubs typically hold meetings every Monday during lunch. Club members help support various service projects throughout the year, including the annual Flower Sale and the Share Life bone marrow registry at the Gilroy Garlic Festival. A Gilroy Rotarian serves as club advisor, but the students govern and support themselves. Once a year, the Interact leadership team comes and runs a Gilroy Rotary Club meeting on their own—always a fun experience for both the students and the adults!
