The Rotary Club’s motto is “Service Above Self,” and
Gilroy Rotarians are actively involved in humanitarian,
educational, and cultural programs that touch people's
lives both in the local community and throughout the world.
Area 6 Projects
“Area 6” refers to a group of six South Bay Rotary Clubs (Gilroy, Gilroy Sunrise, Morgan Hill, Almaden, Hollister, and San Juan Bautista) that get together each year and pool their resources to support a large-scale community project.
The 2018 Area 6 Project consisted of partnering with another non-profit, Re-Build Silicon Valley, who’s mission statement is repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives. A total of 50 volunteers between all south bay Rotary Clubs and Re-Build completed repairs on mobile homes of Veterans. The repairs consisted of entry doors, stairs, handrails, garage ports, and outside painting. Without the group effort from Rotary these individuals may not have the funds necessary to do this work on their homes.
